5 Days / 4 Nights - Virachey National Park Veal Thom Trekking

Itinerary For 5 Days / 4 Nights Trek

Day 1: approx. 4 hrs trekking

  

8:30 am depart from your hotel or Parrot Tours office  in Banlung by traveling  to Taveng district which takes 90 minutes to get there, from Taveng you enjoy a motorized boat trip along Sesan and O’Tabok rivers  for 1 and half hours to the trek starting point, from there trekking into the jungle. Today you camp by a small river in the park.

Day 2:  approx. 6 hours trekking

Look for wildlife in the early mornings and evenings – sambar deer, gibbons, Douc Langurs, wild pig, Great Hornbills, muntjac deer and bear species inhabit in this area. Lucky visitors may a glimpse to Gaur – a critically endangered wild cattle species.

Proceed trekking through tropical lush primary forest to Veal Thom grassland. Today we have some time in the afternoon discovering Veal Thom savannah and enjoy amazing panoramic view from the mountain top.

Day 3: 5 hours trekking – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Morning discover some part of Veal Thom and leave Veal Thom as a loop by trekking in the jungle , some parts walking along river, up and down hills. Tonight camping by a waterfall.

Day 4: 3 to 4 hrs trekking – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Leave from jungle to Brao village, home stay with a Brao tribal family, interact with them before to stay with, your park ranger guide will be happy to be interpreter. At night time after a pleasant dinner, you can try Braos traditonal jar wine, which is brewed by Broas indigenous in a brick jar.

Day 5: – Breakfast & Lunch

After a good stay with the family and breakfast. Today travel by boat a long SeSan river for around 2 hours to Vuernsai, along the way, take a break to visit a sacred Chun Chiet cemetery to learn about the culture and tradition of the Kachock tribe where each tomb has effigies of deceased and beautiful decoration. Lunch will be at Vuernsai district. From there our vehicle awaits to bring you back to Banlung. You would be back to Banlung approximately 3pm.

Price:

1 person-$120 per day

2 – 3 people-$75 per person per day

4 – 5 people- $65 per person per day

6 – 7 people- $59 per person per day

8 or more people- $55 per person per day

  • Transportation by moto or 4x4WD (1-3 people by moto, 4 people up by 4x4WD)
  • A good english speaking guide
  • Indigenous ranger / expert tracker
  • Meals: Day 1 – Lunch & Dinner / Day 2 & 3 – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner / Day 4 – Breakfast, Lunch

Things to bring:

  • During the actual trek; long trousers, T/shirt, bathing suit, closed shoes, sun cream, insect repellent, sun glasses, camera, small first aid kit, toiletries.
  • During the night; a set of clothes for the night, sandals or flip flops, towel, head-torch.

Note: From November till the middle of February nights can be cold.
